Today's picture book is written and illustrated by a new author, Tony Piedra. He may be new to the book world, but I bet you'll recognize some of his other work. He was an artist for Pixar Studios and worked on movies like Up, Inside Out, and Coco (one of my favorites!). In The Greatest Adventure, a boy named Eliot wants a grand adventure. When his grandpa, El Capitán, retires from sailing around the world, Eliot is sure that the two of them will seek out adventure. With the city before them, grandpa's old boat at the dock, and a little bit of imagination, let's see what adventures await!...

La Princesa and the Pea, by Susan Middleton Elya
Let's start the week with one of my favorite books, La Princesa and the Pea, by Susan Middleton Elya. (I love this book so much that you may have heard me read it in the library before, but now we have a copy ready to check out!) This picture book is a fun version of the fairy tale, The Princess and the Pea, except that this version takes place in Peru. You'll hear some Spanish words in the story, like guisante, which is the Spanish word for a yummy green pea!
